Identity Theft
Have you ever been a victim of identity theft? Such is the title of our new survey. For myself, I have been one time several years ago. One day, I received notification from eBay (or PayPal, can't recall right now) that an account on file had been making purchases and they wanted to alert me. Seems my credit card had fallen into criminal hands, so I quickly called up the credit agencies and issued fraud alerts on my social security number, filed law enforcement reports, and opened up an investigation at my credit issuer. After a month or so the monies were credited back to my account and nothing to my knowledge ever happened again. I was able to act quickly thanks to a brilliant alert sent out by eBay. Of course today there are fake emails galore for many brands, so you must be careful in reading them. Best bet is to always log in to the legit brand site to checkup on your accounts. So have you ever been a victim of ID theft? Answer our survey bottom left corner.

Yes and fortunately the bank made recovery of the lost credit relatively painless. However, the constant barage of scams on the internet is bad for the growth of e-commerce. There are evil people everywhere but I don't get 20 letters a day from them in the US mail. Why is the Fed having so much trouble policing the net?
