|
|
Hi,
I think I might have a keystroke/remote access Malware issue. Normal basic stuff, Spybot, AVG Free and Ad-Aware, all scan without identifying infections, but the system has slowed and very occasionally I see unexpected cursor related arrows on the screen.
Maybe a Rootkit type infection and the keyboard driver i8042prt.sys is highlighted by GMER. I'm also curious about rtkbtmnt.exe, which is resident and INUFJZNQNPQ.exe which is missing.
I ran 2 GMER scans, either side of a reboot. Interestingly, the first one highlighted spro.sys anomalies, and the second one, as per the log below, spkp.sys anomalies and so many variants of this missing driver, including spyw.sys, spvz.sys & spsf.sys...
I had traces of SPTD, which I never knowingly installed, so as per http://www.castlecops.com/p977205-Need_Help_Possible_Rootkit.html.
I ran KILLBOX and deleted sptd.sys and all temporary files, with the exception of rtkbtmnt.exe, which remains, but in a temporary folder, not the Windows Systems folder.
I'm new to all of this stuff and so I would really appreciate an experienced eye to review my HJT and GMER logs and to offer any advice as to the way forward. Even after deleting sptd.sys, the system is still sluggish, and GMER still highlights sptd registry entries? Thank you.
Enclosed are the latest HJT and GMER logs.

OK, I managed to remove SPTD and things are seemingly looking better? I also noticed Symantec had a missing file, and so found the Norton Antivirus Removal tool to clean-up the residue from this software.
A couple of missing files for services, MK.exe and INUFJZNQNPQ.exe. I guess this is just a registry cleanup required now?
Once again, advice on how best to safely clean-up the registry and steps required to safeguard that system is clean is greatly appreciated. I will install a software firewall, and am open to recommendations. Previously I used Zone Alarm Free, but had BSOD issues with this, which ceased when I removed Zone Alarm Free.
Enclosed updated GMER and HJT logs.

Hello,
Launch HijackThis by right-clicking the HijackThis desktop shortcut and choosing "Run as Administrator" (if you see an error about being denied write access to the Hosts file, then you have not done this correctly)
2. Select the "Do a system scan" option
Check the following items for removal. With all programs, and browsers closed, hit the "Fix Checked" button:
O23 - Service: INUFJZNQNPQ - Unknown owner - C:\Users\MICHAE~1.MOS\AppData\Local\Temp\INUFJZNQNPQ.exe (file missing)
O23 - Service: MK - Unknown owner - C:\Users\MICHAE~1.MOS\AppData\Local\Temp\MK.exe (file missing)
Close HJT
Reboot and post a new HJT log.
Firewalls
Refer to STUDY of Firewall Testing and Rankings:
http://www.matousec.com/projects/windows-personal-firewall-analysis/leak-tests-results.php
Here are some Vista compatible firewalls that offer free versions with no bundled adware/spyware:
Jettico Personal Firewall:
http://jetico-personal-firewall.en.softonic.com/
Online Armor (free version may not be Vista compatible):
http://online-armor-personal-firewall-free.tall-emu-pty-ltd.qarchive.org/
Vista Firewall Control - not a separate firewall but a simple program that allows you to configure connections for the Windows Firewall (I use this):
